System-code Uncertainty Evaluation
System-code Uncertainty Evaluation (SUE) is a simple and user-friendly software program to perform uncertainty quantification (UQ) analysis with system thermal-hydraulic (STH) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) codes. The current version of the program is specifically intended for three STH codes and one CFD code:
- SPECTRA,
- RELAP5,
- MELCOR,
- FLUENT (CFD code).
1. determines the number of runs N required, based on the UQ methodology selected and uncertain parameters specified by the user;
2. prepares input files for all N runs;
3. executes the applied code N times;
4. performs post processing, including calculation of minimum/maximum values of selected quantities of interest, mean value, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, engineering hot spot factors.
The steps 1 through 3 may be performed with any STH or CFD code. SUE prepares all input files and starts all calculations. The use of SUE is relatively simple. Post-processing (step 4) is available for SPECTRA, RELAP5, MELCOR, and FLUENT. For other codes post processing is possible if the quantities of interest (QoI) may be written to a simple text file or CSV file.
